Our Story
 Founder and Roast Master, Gary Sawyer, started Fidalgo Bay Coffee in 1992 after nearly 30 years in the coffee industry. Gary 's vision was to provide perfectly roasted coffee and reliable, friendly service to his community. When the little red roaster was installed in the front window of his storefront in Anacortes, Washington, the toasty sweet smell of coffee roasting soon began drifting down Commercial Avenue and a new company was born.
Gary used his expertise and passion from roasting millions of pounds of coffee to develop Fidalgo Bay 's unparalleled roasting style and distinctive blends. By using only the highest quality Arabica coffees and slowly roasting them to their highest flavor potential, customers soon began to exclaim “This is the best coffee I've ever tasted!”.
By word-of-mouth and through a lot of hard work, Fidalgo Bay established a stellar reputation throughout the Pacific Northwest. To keep up with the growing demand for Gary 's uniquely roasted coffee, it became necessary to move from the quaint little coffee shop in Anacortes to a larger facility. The first move was to Mount Vernon, Washington in late 1995. A short nine years later, a second move became necessary.
The main roasting facility is now located in Burlington, Washington and is mainly a wholesale business. Gary and his wife, Sandy, along with partners, David and Derek Evans, share in a passion for providing their customers with the best tasting coffees backed with exceptional service. Together they ensure their customers receive the highest quality products, as well as the personal touch that was so much a part of Gary 's vision from the very beginning. Because of the vision, Fidalgo Bay products can now be found throughout the United States , as well as internationally, in coffee shops, espresso stands, restaurants, hotels, offices and in private residences.
